I’m Tracy, Licenced Grief Counsellor & End-of-Life Doula
I’m passionate about supporting individuals, couples and families through life’s most challenging moments.
I hold a B.A. (Hons.) in Psychology, a post graduate certificate in Counselling and completed my specialised grief training under David Kessler in the USA. In addition, in 2023 I completed certification as an end-of-life doula while working in the hospice setting in Houston, Texas.
My unique skills and experience, together with my person-centric approach to counselling, allow me to focus on your individual journey through grief and loss.
A Rewarding Career Path...
I began my career as a trauma counsellor with the South African police force. In this role I supported officers, victims, and their families through the trauma, grief and loss associated with violence and homicide. This experience taught me the importance of recognising the unique journey each individual and family experience during times of traumatic loss.
Over the next two decades I worked around the world, supporting people from diverse backgrounds and cultures. I learnt the importance of understanding grief and loss through a cultural lens. I also learnt about the importance of honouring cultural rituals and meaning making ceremonies and have incorporated these practices in my work.
While living in the United States, I trained as a death doula and worked across the hospice setting to support individuals and families navigating terminal illness and the end of life. Supporting individuals and families through life’s most difficult moments is a privilege – one that I honour every day that I get to do this work!
