Personal Growth Counselling
For when you’ve spent so long looking after everyone else that you’ve lost track of yourself. Support with self-doubt, low self-esteem, people-pleasing and losing your identity in relationships or work.

Personal Growth Counselling – A better way to manage life
Personal growth counselling is a collaborative, goal-oriented therapeutic process that focuses on self-discovery, emotional healing, and maximizing your potential rather than treating a clinical mental health disorder.
Welcome.
You might be the dependable one: the person everyone leans on, who always says yes, who can’t remember the last time they asked what they wanted. Or you might hear a harsh voice in your head that never lets up.
Our Personal Growth Counselling helps you understand these patterns and build a kinder relationship with yourself.
Key aspects of Personal Growth Counselling include:
- Self-Awareness: Uncover emotional blind spots, thought patterns, and explore core values and beliefs.
- Goal Setting: Define clear, meaningful, and actionable objectives for personal, career, or life transitions.
- Coping & Resilience: Build emotional strength, manage stress, and learn healthier ways to navigate life challenges.
- Relationship Improvement: Develop better communication skills, boundary-setting habits, and emotional intelligence.

Be not afraid of growing slowly; be afraid only of standing still.

Does this sound like you?
You aren’t doing it wrong
If you recognised yourself in these, nothing is wrong with you. These patterns usually make sense once you understand where they came from, and they can change.
What personal growth counselling can help with
Persistent self-doubt and a harsh inner critic.
Constant self-criticism and second-guessing can drain your energy and hold you back from living fully.
Low self-esteem.
Deep-seated feelings of inadequacy often impact how you show up in relationships, work, and personal goals.
Perfectionism and over-responsibility.
Holding yourself to impossibly high standards and taking on responsibility for outcomes outside your control creates chronic tension and anxiety.

People-pleasing and boundaries.
When saying “no” feels uncomfortable or scary, it’s easy to prioritize others’ needs at the expense of your own well-being.
Life transitions.
Major shifts — whether career changes, empty nesting, aging, or significant lifestyle moves—often leave you asking “who am I now?”
Losing yourself in work, caring or relationships.
It is common to lose sight of your independent identity, values, and interests when deeply invested in a job, caring for a loved one or within an intimate relationship.

Where these patterns come from.
People-pleasing, self-criticism and putting yourself last often started as ways of coping. They may have kept you safe, valued or out of trouble at some point. They just aren’t serving you now. We don’t treat them as flaws. We help you understand the pattern, work out what it’s protecting and find new ways of responding that feel more like you.
How we work
Counselling here is both reflective and practical and generally starts with understanding your patterns – noticing when they show up and what they’re protecting. From there work may include:
Building self-compassion.
Learning to tame your inner critic and a build a kinder way of talking to yourself.
Setting boundaries.
Practising saying no and asking for what you need in a safe space.
Reconnecting with you.
Explore your values and your preferences, and find you own voice again.
Trying things out.
Real progress happens outside of therapy, with actionable tools and support.

You may feel:
Who this counselling is for
This is for individuals who feel they’ve drifted from themselves. That includes people in long relationships, people whose relationship has ended, partners who hold the household together while a roster keeps their other half away, and people who have lost themselves in a demanding career or caring role
Can I come alone
If your sense of self is tangled up with a relationship, you can come on your own or explore couples counselling.
